The summer of 2003 was like no other since 1985 for Valerie and
Trevor. No travelling abroad in a camper van, no painting out-of-doors
in hot sunshine, no sampling the local wine and cuisine. Instead,
the summer was taken up with DIY
Trevor's previous garden workshop had become too old and leaky.
It was torched, and a new workshop installed with an accompanying
patio, but what to paint for the October Exhibition? Why, the new
patio of course, then the rest of the garden, and even the local
landscape - something Trevor has not considered since 1980.
During the changeover, a large cache of children's book illustrations
- both framed and unframed, came to light. These illustrations are
now offered for sale in advance of a major exhibition at the North
Light Gallery, Armitage Bridge in April 2004.
